Registry question- layette

How many of each size did you register for?
Or how many do we need?

Onsies, side snap shirts, gowns, wearable blankets, burp cloths, receiving blankets.

I just saw March. My answer is based on when you're due Chat Icon

Onsies: 10-14 I would register for 0-3 AND 3-6 months

Side snap shirt: NONE! Just take them from the hospital Chat Icon And, I never used them anyway.

Receiving blankets: Don't register for too many, just one package. You will get them anyway, and TAKE TAKE TAKE from the hospital!

Wearable sleep blankets: Steven never used these, but I would say register for just a few. I would get maybe 2 with long sleeves and two with no sleeves for the warmer nights.

HTH. You will get many different answers Chat Icon

ETS: Burp cloths: You can never have too many!!! I found the cloth diapers to work the best. I would say you need at least 8 of them.

It was really hard to predict. What we cannot have enough of right now is sleep gowns, onesies or side snap shirts, receiving blankets, burp cloths and bibs. We were warned not to get too many tiny sizes because even if a baby is small, they grow so fast. Well, I now wish I had more preemie and newborn stuff. I'd register for some newborn size stuff b/c I think that most babies do need that size at first, and a lot of gift givers overlook that size.

Thanks!
I was wondering where I could find the white burp cloths I see everywhere- it makes sense those are probably cloth diapers.

Re: Registry question- layette

You can NEVER have enough of the cloth diapers IMO (make sure you get the pre-folded ones) I have 2 packs of them and still use them all the time!!

As far as onesies.....for about the 1st 4 weeks I used the side snap ones, I had 2 packages -- one long sleeve and one short sleeve and it was enough. My DS was born in March, he was due the end of April so I wasn't prepared for the 30 - 40 degree weather right after he was born! I would say to start with 1 package of newborn size onesies and then pakages of the 0-3 and 3-6. Also, I love the Carter onesies and am not a big fan of the Gerber.

My DS hated the blanket sleepers/sleep sacks, so no advice there.

I only used the sleep gowns on him for about a week or two. I didn't really like them, and he curled his legs up so much and didn't seem to like it. He was always more comfortable in regular footie pj's.

As far as receiving blankets, I registered for a few I liked and got a TON at my shower. I didn't know the sex of the baby and literally had to return about 15 yellow/green blankets because I got so many. And after DS was born I got a lot of blue ons. I wouldn't register for too many....if you are having a shower those are the kind of things people tend to buy you anyway.

Cailen lived in onesies for months - but register for sizes all the way to 6 mts

I really liked the side snap shirts, but he was born in April, so it was warmer then.... I liked them though....

He never wore any wearable blankets, but it was a bit warmer then....

burp cloths rock - get as many as you can - I registered for 2 packages and they are the most used item I ever had

Receiving blankets - don't go too crazy with them - a few packages and you should be fine....

Re: Registry question- layette

you will get more blankets then you know what to do with at your shower. i registered for the cloth diapers and no one bought them.

i'd stick with the 0-3, 3-6 month onsies.

Re: Registry question- layette

you dont need any side snap tees - I registered for them and never used them - a waste,

youll need plenty of oneises in different sizes (up to 6 mths) - atleast 7 in each size.

LOTS of burp clothes and bibs

2 sleep sacks.

Re: Registry question- layette

I really didnt register for any clothes and let me tell you I got some clothes ranging from NB to 18 months.

People love to get clothes (especially if they know what you are having) so I wouldnt worry too much!

Re: Registry question- layette

I got a variety of sizes at my shower (plus of being an older mom--most people there have kids already and knew what we'd need). My registry was mostly newborn and 0-3, though putting 3-6 months down is a good idea.

Everyone I know who has kids told me you cannot have enough onesies, pjs, or burp cloths/lap cloths in the beginning. Sheets too--they will need to be washed a lot.

I think I'm going to wash just a few newborn things initially and see if DC fits in them. If he does, I'll wash the rest, but if he doesn't I'll exchange them for 0-3 months clothing.

You may want some warm stuff in March. Probably no snowsuits, but I would get a few warm things in the small sizes.

Re: Registry question- layette

So many people gave me these types of things at my shower. I had more than enough and did not register for much.
