2 year old & teeth brushing
Tommy DOES NOT like to have his teeth brushed. I have one of those toddler brushes and the toothpaste that came with it. So does anyone have any "fun" toothbrushes for kids? Or maybe it's the toothpaste itself? I don't know what brand it is, but maybe that's it. We brush his teeth after his bath (before bed) and he fights me the whole time! (Fights me for the bath too but that's another story!)

Re: 2 year old & teeth brushing
We have a hard time with DS too. After I went to my dentist and mentioned what a hard time we have, she looked at me in horror that sometimes I just couldn't get his teeth brushed so I was going to just hold him down and deal. We had tried cute toothbrushes, spin brushes, he just wouldn't let us (mind you until he was about 14 months he was fine with me brushing them.)
We were at Walmart and saw this brush that sings and now he usually will dance around while holding it and putting it in his mouth - not such a good brusher, he mostly chews on it - but he'll let me go in with another brush and do a pretty good job most of the time. Seriously, this has been so helpful - he loves the music. They have ones that sing numbers and farm animals too.

Re: 2 year old & teeth brushing
Some kids are very sensitive to taste and also the brush in general. When a parent comes into my office with that prob, I usually recommend using a very small amount of toothpaste, rub it into the bristles so it's not too much. Then we recommend starting off with a small, easy brush- no spinbrush- just something simple to get them used to the feeling. Have them try it with no paste then put some. Just ease the process and let him rinse a few times. Most of them outgrow this as they get older.

I let DD do it herself which helps, but sometimes she eats the toothpaste
Sounds lame but I will sing or play that "brush brush brush" song from YGG and imitate brushing and she usually does it then

spinbrush! http://www.spinbrush.com/Kids.html
Logan has a shrek one and loves it. I have to pry the toothbrush out of his hand twice a day. We use aquafresh kids, i think it's bubble mint flavor. He always gagged on the berry toothpastes.
