2 Under 2- Did you use TWO cribs?

I am having a dilemma. DS will be 22 months when DC is here.

DS LOVES his crib (he is 19months old) and I really dont want to or see the need to take it away from him.

so.....should I use 2 cribs???Chat Icon Chat Icon

No. I had baby#2 in the bassinet for 3 months & then moved #1 to a regular sized bed.

I would probably have two cribs. I would either buy a cheap one or see of you could borrow one from a friend until you trasition to a bed.

My sons are 2 years 3 days apart and they were in two cribs. My doctor said that DS should have been in a big oy bed before 2 but whatever..he liked his crib and it worked for me. DS#1's bed converts to a bed so after the holidays he's going in the big boy bed.

my kids are 20 months apart. i moved baby #1 into a toddler bed by 18 months and then used her crib for baby #2. transition was great.

yes we set up a whole nursery for our new baby my son was 21 months when she was born she is currently sleeping in a cosleeper in our bed

she has only been in her nursery a couple of times to be changed Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am scared of DS transition---but maybe by 25 months he will be ready?

problem is that they will be in the same room and I dont want DS to associate new baby with taking crib away and I also dont want him roaming the room at night waking up new DC

1st round, no--DD was in the toddler bed before DS arrived.

2nd round, YES...DS is nothing but trouble and I don't trust him being able to get out of a bed yet

Mine are 20 mos. apart, and yes, I did buy a new crib.

In fact, DD#1 is STILL in it--at 3 years old. Chat Icon But I swear, I did order her a twin bed and it should be here in a month or so...I swear!! Chat Icon Chat Icon At least we got our money's worth! Chat Icon

My girls are 14 months apart and no, we didn't use 2 cribs. My oldest was in a twin bed at 17 months old.

Nope. #1 moved to his own room and toddler bed at 22 months. No issues at all.

Re: 2 Under 2- Did you use TWO cribs?

Yes- Matty was 16 months when Caity was born. We bought another cirb (a floor sample from BRU- got it for $75 Chat Icon )

He is 2 now and I want him to stay in his crib as long as possible. Caity transferred from bassinet to crib at 3 months.

Re: 2 Under 2- Did you use TWO cribs?

DD will be almost 15 months older than her sib. I will buy another crib... the one she is in is a convertable crib. I'll get the same for new baby probably. Not sure it'll be a Bellini like the other one, but it'll be good. Mine will be sharing a room though Chat Icon Can't wait to see what happens when new baby wakes DD up at night.

Re: 2 Under 2- Did you use TWO cribs?

Yes...my older dd is 20 months and loves her "big girl" crib...her old crib is in our nursery waiting for her baby sister to go into it eventually...we felt she wasn't near ready for a bed when we moved her to her new room and figured if its not broke, don't fix it...the transition to a new sibling was hard enough!

DS is 16 months old and has been in a toddler bed (when he isnt in my bedChat Icon) for about 2 months. He hated his crib and cried every time his feet hit the mattress. The 2 little ones will be sharing a room- car bed & crib. DS will be 18-19 months when new baby comes.

Re: 2 Under 2- Did you use TWO cribs?

At this point we're thinking yes, we will get another crib. That wasn't the initial plan, but DD will only be 19 months old when DC 2 is born. We didn't use a bassinet last time, and don't plan to this time either.

Re: 2 Under 2- Did you use TWO cribs?

DS's crib is convertible to a toddler bed and then a full size bed so we will be getting a similar crib for DS #2 when he arrives in the spring.

Re: 2 Under 2- Did you use TWO cribs?

I got a second crib (both are convertible) b.c DD will be 23 months when the baby comes - I plan to put the baby in a bassinet in our room in the beginning but DD's crib is a convertible and I didn't want her to feel she is being displaced. She is all over her crib and still occasionally wakes up and runs around her crib I could only imagine what would happen if I put her in a toddler bed in the near future. So we figured it was easier to just get a second convertible this way they both have beds that will grow with them.
