2 part question...reupholstery and new couches
Does anyone know anything about reupholstery? A good place you can recommend, or an idea of what it should cost?
The second part of my question is I am looking for a turn of the century victorian style settee or chair.
Any ideas where I can find one used? Any idea where I would look for it new?? I want to get an idea of which would be more affordable.
TIA!

Re: 2 part question...reupholstery and new couches
Never did any personally but when I do, I'd use Mill Ends in East Islip. They sell fabrics and do not do the upholstery there but have vendors to recommend and I would trust them as my mom has been using them since my parents moved here over 40 years ago.
Also, if you want to gather estimates for comparison, I see adds in the little local papers like Suffolk Life, Pennysaver, Clipper Magazine, those coupon envelopes, etc.
As far as where to find the piece... garage sale season is coming. Try out East for good estate sales. Look for Salvation Army stores that carry furniture. Craigslist or eBay.
I love doing google image searches to get ideas. Is this what you're talking about?
