2 hour glucose test?

My dr. mentioned that they no longer do 1 hour then 3 hour (if you fail) tests. He said they only do a 2 hour test and if you fail that then that's it you're considered to have GD.

But I still see all these posts about taking 1 hour and 3 hour tests.

I saw that too when I was looking up info about the 3 hr.

My doctor gave me paperwork showing that the new recommendation is now a 2 hour test so that's what I'm having.

I just did the 1 hour test last week at Quest and there were about 5 other pregnant women taking it at the same time. No one ever mentioned anything to me about a 2 hour test.

I haven't heard of it before either. I literally just got out of my 1 hour test & there were 3 other women there getting the same thing so I guess it must be a relatively new thing...?

I'm at my 3 hr now and asked. The 2 hr is a newer test but there are apparently a few ways to do the 3 hr as well. She said its really dr preference. For example, some have a PT go for an initial draw then go home and eat and come back as needed. They also said yes to water :) phew!

I'm going for what I THINK is my one hour this afternoon but now I'm wondering if they are going to make it a two hour instead...
