1w PP and I feel ridiculously exhausted

So I ended up getting induced successfully! I gave birth to a little baby girl (7lbs 5oz 20in)only after a very short labor. The active and very painful labor with epidural was less than a half hour and she came into this world after 4 pushes!

Here is the thing... I am so tired. It has now been one week and seeing that I am by no means a helpless person and lead a very active lifestyle I can't come to terms wiith the way my body feels. Mentally I am on cloud nine, happy and all. I just hate not having the energy that I am accustomed to. How long did it take you to get back to your normal energy levels (atleast as close to normal, seeing that taking care of a newborn takes energy) I just need some type of affirmation that it will get better. In the meantime I am enjoying my 1 week bundle of joy with the little energy I have!

2 years later and I am still exhausted....Chat Icon

J/K. Of course it gets better. It got so much better for me that I was ready to do it all over again just 7 months later!

After my first was born, I literally felt like a truck hit me for the first 2 weeks. I was EXHAUSTED. Overwhelmed. Bone-achingly tired. One day though, I didn't feel so bad and got something done (I think it was a walk to the supermarket). Then a few days later I actually took the baby somewhere (BRU I'm sure). Suddenly, my life was *normal* again.

Then I got pregnant and started all over.Chat Icon

baby steps. Give it time, Your hormones are wacky, your body is healing, and you have a little night owl keeping you on your toes.....

I could have written this. I was definitely NOT one of those moms who ran out to the mall a couple days after giving birth--I was so tired, and kind of annoyed that I couldn't get the sleep I needed to really recover. I think that's another part of the puzzle--you are tired from a physical ordeal, plus you can't really sleep.

It does get better--I had lupus (triggered by the pregnancy and hormones) so it took longer, but I think I felt a little more normal in a month. Give it time, you will get better.

I was induced also, I don't know if the pitocin wipes you out a bit more or if that has nothing to do with it.
