1st Vacation
Tonight we are leaving to go to Lake George for DH's family reunion. My DS will be turning a year in two weeks.. I don't know why but I am so anxiety ridden over this..lol.. I am just not sure how DS will do. He is a great sleeper but I am afraid when we do get back his whole schedule will be thrown off. We are only going for three days but still.. For those BTDT moms, any advice?

1st Vacation
I have been traveling with DS since he was 4 months old. It has never changed his sleeping pattern more than the travel days.
Its not worth the anxiety because it will be whatever it is and my best advice is to just roll with it and enjoy your vacation. the more you travel the better you will be. I have now started traveling alone with my DS. The first time I was a wreck.....now I love it.

1st Vacation
I have been traveling with the kids since they were 6 weeks old. Internationally mostly and I don't even worry about it. As pp said it is what it is and he will be fine. Even with a 5 hour time difference DS & DD do great.

Re: 1st Vacation
It's a short vacation to a place that's a few hours away.
Don't stress.
As for sleeping schedules, I don't think anything really changes them too much.
We've been on many vacations & the kids sleep the same after as they did pre.

1st Vacation
We traveled with DS at 8 weeks and his sleep schedule remained the same. We will be going on vacation next week (13 weeks) and I assume he'll transition fine. I would say enjoy your vacation! If he does get a little off schedule, I'm sure it'll be temporary.

1st Vacation
I've been traveling with my dd since she was a year old and I've never had any problems. We've done long drives and international trips and I've never once had a problem. Even with a time difference dd did fine!

Re: 1st Vacation
We just returned from our 1st trip, international . It was great. He is a great sleeper and nothing changed that. Napped on the plane, during the day at the resort and beautifully through the night. As pp said, just go with it and have a great time!

1st Vacation
I feel like kids are able to adapt so much faster than adults! We took DD to the Caribbean when she was 13 months and she was fine there and fine when we got back.

Re: 1st Vacation
We've been traveling with our boys since they were infants. Road trips, hotels, cities, beaches, weekends at the Grandparents' - whatever. if you're relaxed, they're relaxed. Just go with it, whatever it may be. It's a vacation. Have a great time!!
If they're off for a few days when we get home, eh, its only a few days, they get back into a routine the same way the grown ups do

Re: 1st Vacation
I've had issues with DD sleeping while away when she 18mo and 24mo but at 6mo she was fine. That said, we never had issues getting back on track after returning home. DS hasn't had an issue sleeping away so far, knock on wood!
It's really not worth stressing over. Try to enjoy your vacation!
