1st trimester fatigue

Wow this is NO JOKE!

I've never felt this way before and I have a chronic illness that causes fatigue. My eyes are half mast all day long. I can go 4 hours until I need to nap. I'm fortunate enough to have a private office so I can close my door on my break.

How do you guys power through? Obviously I can't drink a red bull Chat Icon I'm assuming it *may* end by the start of my second trimester?

Re: 1st trimester fatigue

Honestly i don't know how I got though it...I just did. I work in an open floor plan office so there is no hiding. I would sometimes sleep on the train but I am not one who normally can sleep on a train so even then it was rare.

Then I would always get a small burst of energy when I got home but then go to bed early.

Re: 1st trimester fatigue

I was exhausted 1st trimester!!!!!!!!!!! It was hard! I really couldnt nap, but I would pass out early.

It definitely got a little better 2nd trimester, but I got anemia so I was really tired throughout this pregnancy, moreso than I've ever been in my life!! 1st trimester was still the worst, so you'll probably feel more like yourself in the 2nd trimester.

I would feel like napping at work almost every day! hahah

Hang in there!!

Ohhhh I had this BAD when I was pregnant and then I had a nearly 2hr commute home after work!! Chat Icon Chat Icon I found what helped was snacking when I got very tired, and staying very well hydrated. Chat Icon

Re: 1st trimester fatigue

The only way I was able to deal was to nap, and I'm not a napper. It went away for the most part in the second trimester, but in the third its kinda here again Chat Icon

Re: 1st trimester fatigue

Oh man, I still have this....BAD! I dont know how to beat it, but if you figure something out, clue me in! I wish i could drink a Venti something at Starbucks to help me beat it!!!!

I am in bed by 10 usually and am fighting to stay awake all day. My commute home is the worst! It takes me an hour to get home and sometimes I am falling asleep. I have to keep the AC on full blast and the music turned up to keep me awake! Its sooo scary/sad!!!

Re: 1st trimester fatigue

yeah it definitely sucks but you'll get through... you just do... i used to nap at my desk during "lunch" lol. i could have napped standing up if I had to. it comes back (at least it has for me) in your third trimester but it's a different kind of tired, more like physical exhaustion from carrying so much extra weight (or not sleeping, or both), as opposed to the first trimester "no matter how much i sleep i am still exhausted" tiredness.

you'll get through it.... promise Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: 1st trimester fatigue

i never fully got my energy back. at 19wks maybe i have a little more oomph than i did, but it still sucks!!!

my trick:

I drink the caffinated hot chocolate (made by swiss miss) and mix half of that with half regular hot chocolate. Then I'm good!
Or I'll have a cup of coffe, but in the begining coffee made me so Chat Icon that i couldn't even think of it. If you don't have morning sickness and like coffee, i recommend pumpkin coffee either from DD or SBChat Icon And if you don't want 100% caf, you can ask for 1/2 and 1/2.

Haha the closest Starbucks around my job isnt for miles and miles!

Actually I'm somewhat wary of caffeine. Just doing one cup of tea in the AM and that's it. I do think a cup of coffee would help me right now- maybe I will go the hot chocolate route right now.

I definitely expect it to come back in the 3rd trimester- I guess *if* it ever goes away. If this is my only pregnancy symptom, no MS, I will be eternally grateful!

I drink one cup of coffee throughout the day. It helps I think. I also stay hydrated with water, keep snacking and also drink OJ.

Re: 1st trimester fatigue

I don't know how I got through it! It helped so much that DH was home for the summer. I don't know what I would of did without him home. I was super sick as well. I have a 2.5 year old and I work full time overnights. Let's just say I called into work alot.

Re: 1st trimester fatigue

Yes!!! I am constantly exhausted! During the week I go to bed super early and sleep so well, and on the weekends I'm so lazy and do absolutely nothing. DH has been so good, cause he knows this is not me at all. I'm always on the go and love doing things. But as of late, I just want to lay on the couch.
