1st time mommies
are you planning on taking hand me downs or do you want new? if you are taking hand me downs, are you taking everything fron high chairs to bottles, or just certain things?

Only certain things. Clothes, a breastpump and a few items here and there.
Bottles I would buy new, or basically anything with plastic. I would watch out with car seats, if you do get that handed down to you, because they have a limited warranty.

I am not bc I am the first to have a baby in my family. I did read though not to take
car seats, cribs and breast pumps.... for recall issues and sanitary issues.

mostly certain things. Everything was pretty much new for Mason. Only hand me down stuff I took was a breastpump my sister gave me b/c she has the great hospital one. Of course we changed some parts.
He was really spoiled and got everything on the registery so didn't really have to take hand me downs. Now, he's 19 months with sooo much toys and pple are still offering. I told them he's good and to give it to charity

I will take anything and everything friends and family are willing to pass down. I will receive toys, clothes, extra bedding and other things.

im willing to take clothes, toys...things like that. i read not to take car seats and cribs etc due to missing parts and regulations but other things i would take..every penny saved!

The only things I will take as hand me downs are things that have never been used. Like if my friends have leftover diapers from when their kids grew out of that size, I'll take that. Otherwise, this is my first kid and I want all new stuff. And I am fully aware that is pretty ridiculous but I just feel that way.

DH's coworker whose baby is just a year old now gave us their infant car seat, extra base, and snap & go. No accidents, brand new last year. I was very happy to accept it. We did a recall check and there was none.
She also gave me the fischer price rainforest bouncer/jumper and a baby bjorn. All in great condition!
I'm fine with most used items other than a crib. My SIL gave me a lot of clothing she had left from my niece, but they're mostly larger sizes. Another friend whose 3-month-old grew out of the size 1 diapers gave me all her extras which was great!
My aunts shop at consignment shops in FL and sent me some really cute clothing (many with tags still on!) -- I just washed everything and am fine with it.
I bought my stroller on Craig's List after a lot of research. I knew I wanted the Peg Perego Pliko P3 but I didn't want to pay full price for it. I found the 2006 model for a third of the price of a new one. I search for recalls (none) and went and examined it and it's in perfect condition so I bought it used.
My SIL also gave us a high chair and a booster seat. I plan to get a wooden one eventually but what she gave me will also be used. We just washed the seat.

I'm pretty much willing to take anything. I wanted a new stroller, car seat, and crib. Other than that I'd take any hand me downs. I'm borrowing a bassinet. Will get some clothes, exersaucer, and some toys.

i think for the most part i will get new stuff...
its my first so i would want stuff i could call my own and be able to have when i have more kids...
also most everyone i know that has kids is prob not done having kids and they wouldnt wanna give their stuff away just yet.

I am taking a lot from my sister and I am more than happy to take it
My mom bought a new high chair and pack n play
My sister is giving me the swing, bouncy seat, exasaucer, tub, brand new infant seat (have to research for recalls)
She has so much - it is all in good condition and not that old so I am more than willing to take it - esp since I know where it is coming from
She also has a   and I am willing to take clothes when  comes as well

mos ago, so they have given us all her newborn clothes that were barely worn and a swing and a few other things.

I havent had the honor of taking any hand me downs. My family hasn't had a baby in a few years. I'm not against it but I'll be picky with what I take. IMO

I would prefer only clothes. I'm the first in my family to have a baby and I have a lot of friends who have had them recently...My MIL's godson is now about 3 and she kept her stroller and pak n play which is fine but I want my own new stuff
