1st dr. visit?
What goes on at the first ob visit? should DH come with me? will they do a sono?
sorry im super excited and dont know what to expect!

Congrats! It depends how far along you are. My dr did a sono at my 1st appt (8 wks) & we heard/saw the heartbeat & they took lots of blood & they ask you lots of q's.

It depends on your doctor. Most doctors won't do a sono before 8 weeks. My first appointment was basically an annual appointment and the doctor sent me for bloodwork. I had a sono at my second appointment.

thanks so much ladies... i have NO idea how far along i am... my last AF was oct. 17 so i "should" be 12dpo and i tested yesterday and it was CLEAR AS DAY!!!!!! no ifs ands or buts about it. so im wondering how far along i really am prob. only about a week or 2 im guess... im really bad at this stuff!

the week count starts on the date of your last period. so you're probably closer to 4 weeks.

If your first day of your last AF was 10/17 you are probably about 3 weeks depending on your cycle length. When is your appointment?
My doc wouldn't see me until after 8 weeks - it was like an annual appointment (with pap), lots of bloodwork, review of family history, and sonogram. I was very glad DH was with me because she wanted a lot of info about his family as well. If your appointment is earlier than 8w it could go either way on the sono - some docs do one, some don't. I would just call to clarify what you can expect!

I went to my RE at 5 weeks...and we saw just the amniotic sac and a dot...our baby!!!

thanks for all the info. I didnt call yet for the apt. im calling tomorrow. and ill be sure to have DH with me i dont know much about his family medical history im sure neither does he

You and i think alike hunny. The only thing i will say is that i was lucky i saw something a 5 weeks. Some people dont so dont let that freak you out!

no neither we actually werent TTC its just a major surprise... but DH has tons of twins on his side. since i was a little girl i always said i would have twins and i just have this gut feeling. i also when i was about 18 had a psychic reading and i went back about a week ago and read it and EVERY thing she told me came true (babies were the last piece to the puzzle) and it siad i would have twins so im just more curious.

This is what I'm really nervous about. I have my appointment at 5w1d. My OB thinks I'm further along because my cycles are really long, when I called to make my first appointment I tried explaining to the receptionist that I didn't ovulate till CD 27, but she still wanted me to come in as if I was further along.. I'm getting nervous that shes going to do a sono and there wont be anything there because I won't be far enough along (which I already know!!)
As far as what else goes on...I don't know I'll let you know after my first appointment tue!!!
