1st Birthday-WWYD?(fever related)
So tomorrow is DD's 1st birthday party. We are having about 50 people at a resturaunt.
She has had a fever since lastnight-peaking at around 102.7. This is her 5th fever/virus since September.
She is acting completely normal-if I didn't take her temp you wouldn't know she had one. She sometimes gets fever spiking at 106.5. ugh. So far, hopefully it will not get that high.
The ped I saw today said she would cancel the party. But she is acting like herself and I am afraid that if I do postpone, if I even can-she can be sick again. I don't want to do anything to harm her of course. I am so torn Please help!!!!!!!!

I say take her temp tomorrow, and cancel the party if she still has a high fever.
You wouldn't want her to be miserable and every if she is fine temperament wise want to infect anyone else.

thats so rough! if i were going to a 1st birthday with Ian and found out the birthday girl had a fever, i dont think id be happy about it. its exposing the kids as well as harming your DD.
is she on antibiotics?

if the ped reccomended to cancel... I would cancel  sorry she's not feeling good!
Like the pp's said, I wouldn't want her to feel crappy for it and also I would be worried about the other kids and how the parents would feel. I personally wouldnt want to go to a party where the child had a fever.

She's not on antibiotics. There are not going to be as many kids as originally planned-just 6 that are mobile-I would tell all of the parents beforehand of course.

Me too.
We went to a 1st bday party a few weeks ago and the birthday girl had RSV. The mom warned us when we got there (we knew she was sick with a cold/cough a few days before) and although the baby was cranky, she napped at one point and just stayed away from the other kids. It was a big party with about 75 people so they didn't want to cancel.

What about just not taking her as a last resort? I know that sounds crazy since it's HER party but if it was my ds' party I think that's what I would do. Then I would have a few people over for dinner and cake when he was feeling better. I mean, the party is large and at a restaurant- what a huge pita to reschedule IF you even can.

hmm. I'm thinking maybe we'll take her for just 1/2 the party. I don't know. The ped made me feel like the worst mother ever for even thinking about taking her to the party and telling me how she can infect everyone, especially the elderly. She wants her back tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. to check her blood count again, and when I explained that if we decide to go on with the partyy tha would interrupt her nap, she insisted I bring her in--even though the other times I brought her in 2 days later, not the next day. Ugh.

Is the fever virus contagious? I use to babysit for a girl who would get a fever virus once a month and neither myself nor her sisters ever got it. And the all slept in the same room...I would keep her in her stroller or high chair and let people know she isn't feeling well....

tough call!
Loey went home sick from daycare with a fever on thursday and his party is also today.
we're taking him. but our ped. said his fever was likely just from teething because his ears and lungs were clear

If she's acting normal, I would still have it. Maybe you'll be lucky and she'll be at least 12 hours fever-free by the time of the party. So much goes into the planning, so it would be difficult to reschedule. Obviously it she gets worse, that's a different story. I also feel like almost every first birthday party I've gone too, the baby is sick or getting sick. Maybe it's a coincidence.
