1st birthday wording ideas re: gifts
I know I'm thinking about this WAY too soon, DS is 6 months old tomorrow. BUT I've started to think about his 1st birthday party and am the type of person that likes everything planned out before doing anything.
We chose not to Christen DS and are treating his 1st birthday party as a huge family/friends get together to celebrate! It will be catered and we're hoping to have about 75 people, maybe more...
I know it's tacky to even discuss this, but we don't want people to bring clothes or toys as gifts simply because he has so much already. I'm not a huge fan of a room full of toys and a closet full of clothes - which he won't ever use. But we would welcome gift cards and cash, as anyone would, I expect. We're not looking for it, but if we had the choice, it's what we prefer.
I know there is no classy way of expressing that on an invitation - but I wonder if we include a "no gifts please" phrase on the invitation, how would people interpret that? I feel so tacky even asking this, but what would you do and how would you respond to an invitation that said "no gifts please". Just curious to know. Thanks!
I might just leave it off, but wanted to see how everyone else feels before making my decision.
