1st birthday party time
I'm just trying to decide what time to make DS's 1st birthday. I can't decide if it should be from 1-5pm, 2-6pm or 3-7pm. We're catering the party at a hall, if that makes any difference.
Any advice would be great! TIA!

1st birthday party time
We did 1-5pm. There were a good amount of kids and I figured if it ended at 5 that gave parents time to head home and get them to kind of unwind in time for bed later.

That's what I was planning on doing originally, but DH said maybe we should do it even later so we'll be serving them dinner instead because if it's earlier, it's a strange time to eat. And of course I've thought about nap times, but I know that will be difficult to schedule around.

Yea, I would do 3-7. I know with us DD takes an earlier nap. By the time she is up, had lunch, gets dressed, etc. 3 would be a perfect time for us to be somewhere. Then like your DH said, they can have dinner there, etc. By the time they get home, it's close to bed time. Works out perfect! of course you will never be able to please everyone so do whatever works best for you

I like the 3-7 slot. They can always leave early of they are that strict with bedtimes, and it is good time for naps. To me, 1:00 is a bit early.

I think 2-6 is perfect. I kinda agree with your DH about the time and eating. 2-6 PM says dinner to me. 1-5 PM makes me confused.

i dont see an issue with 1-5p, and maybe its just b/c im not on a set schedule when eating (for example, im having my lunch now), but i dont see why it would be confusing for eating times. its just like a late lunch....?

Well I mean confusing as in I'm not sure if an actual meal will be served at the party. It could just be snacks and cake, KWIM? So for a party from 1-5 PM, I'd eat lunch before going to be safe and probably plan to have dinner after the party. Not that that would stop me from eating at the party as well.

o wow, i never thought of this! i would have just assumed with a 4 hour party there would be real food. omg, if i ever went to a party at that time w/o real food i would be soooo hungry, b/c knowing me i'd only have a light breakfast early in the morning so i can splurge later. hahahaha

Oh I figured as much! But that's just my thought process when I saw the 1-5 PM time frame.
