1st Birthday food question
Planning my DD's 1st Birthday for October. We're having a backyard fall-themed party with lawn games, pumpkin-picking & decorating, etc. Mostly adults...I would say about 50 adults and maybe 10 kids (at most).
We're trying to keep costs down. Trying to decide on whether to just do heroes with salads or to go all out and do trays of hot food. Either way, for the kids I would do a tray of chicken fingers and mac & cheese.
Which do you think we should do?

1st Birthday food question
Sandwiches & salads. So much easier than hot food, and if you get 2 or 3 different types of heroes, everyone will find something they like.

I just did hero's, salads, and I made 2 trays of penne vodka for my DD's 2nd bday. We had plenty leftover.

Re: 1st Birthday food question
Heros and salads are fine, and we look forwrd to that at parties! . If you're trying to cut costs, you can supplement by making a tray of baked ziti a day or 2 ahead of time In An aluminum pan and just heat it up in the oven that day. If you make your own sauce using onion and cans of tomato paste and purée, you can make a tray for about $15 tops (sauce, ziti, mozzarella, ricotta). Tastes delicious a day later!

1st Birthday food question
i just did stop and shop catering and thought they did a fantastic job. I got 2 three-ft heros (one american and one italian), and large boneless wing platter, a fruit platter, veggie platter, macaroni salad, and potato salad all for under $175
ETA: this was for a 1st birthday. about 40 adults and 15 kids

Re: 1st Birthday food question
Personally, I am so over the insane amount of food served at parties. I think heroes and salads is perfect - or even wraps if you want to go fancier
