Re: 1st birthday
DS we had at a restaurant. Invited all family (including extended) and friends
DD we did in our backyard, kept it small. Had immediate family with the exception of a few of DH's cousins and aunts/uncles.
We had children's entertainers come for an hour. They did face painting, balloon animals, dancing/games, parachute play, and a character appearance.

Re: 1st birthday
DD is only 5 months and I'm already planning for it. There's a carousel room that we plan to rent (once we can book it, they aren't accepting bookings for that far in advance now) that includes rides for the duration of the party. My sister also does balloon animals, so she said she'd play around with the kids with that. But we don't plan on doing any other entertainment. There will be a fair amount of kids, about 10-15 ranging from a few months old to 6 years old, but mostly they are about 1/2 years old.

Re: 1st birthday
We rented a party room at place in Queens and hired a clown to play games, face paint and do balloon animals. It was a huge hit for all the kids who ranged in ages 8 months to 10 yrs old.

Re: 1st birthday
I wanted to have a small get together at the house but DH wanted to have a big celebration..he won and now I'm embracing it. We rented a hall, we're having an 1 1/2 of entertainment for the kids, catered food, candy buffet..the whole 9 yards!

1st birthday
DD is 9 months and honestly, I don't think we're doing anything. Our families are small and not that close by and most of our friends don't have kids so asking them to trek out to LI for a first birthday party is kind of laughable. We also had her christening a couple months ago, so I feel like she really doesn't need 2 parties she won't remember in such a short time span.
I'm trying to think of things she'd enjoy though so we can spend the day doing them- she loves carousels and sitting in shopping carts so I told DH we should just bring her to Nunley's and then walk around BJ's for a few hours!

Re: 1st birthday
We had a small party at my aunt's house- about 30 people. No entertainment because DD is the only kid in the family right now.

DD1 we did a party with friends at my gym and heros and cake at the house for family.
Dd2 is a September baby and we did hers in the backyard. We have a swing set and a pool. It seemed like the kids had fun!

1st birthday
For DS' first birthday we just did a party at the house. We did a big christening a few months prior so I wanted the birthday to be a little more low key.
