Parents with small children or children that don't know how to swim... How do you feel about summer pool parties?

My DS was one last year and LOVED the pool so I think he would enjoy the pool PLUS I like going in the pool.

With 2 little ones - I tend to avoid pool parties. I used to go when I only had one little one, though.

We have always done pool parties bc my boys are both born in the summer and we have a pool.
I should add when I do a pool party for a birthday it's only family and close friends with the entire family invited. I have also hired a lifeguard as well.
Only classmates I have invited are those I am close with and we have all gotten together on occasions and not just playdates.
I have done a class birthday party, but at a place then I have the family and close friends over after to go swimming after the party.
Everyone goes in the pool and swims with their LO's.
We have a fence around the pool too so just the opening by the steps is open and parents are real little ones don't have to worry as much bc of the fence.
ETA - since we have the family invited usually I notice the DH's take their LO's in and the moms either go in or sit on the side.

I am biased because my DS will be turning 1 in June and I plan on having a pool party. I was so excited to finally have a summer baby so he could have pool parties!
I am a summer baby and loved my birthday parties growing up!

I would be the self conscious mom so I'd prefer a non pool party.

I honestly don't like pool parties with little kids. Then the parents have to spend all the time in the pool and I am usually by myself at some parties and I have 2.. I also avoided pool parties (unless it is family).
