uh oh!

Some of you remember that I have been working with a pottery designer in Italy for an anniversary gift for my parents' 25th (oct 26th).

I've been in touch with this woman since august (about 10 or 12 emails), and the last time I emailed with her, she had me email exactly what I wanted written on the underside of the plate, and the colors that I wanted on the top, etc....She sent me a "proof" (hand sketch), I approved it, and emailed my CC# and shipping address. (That was September 20th)

That was the last I've heard from her. I've checked my CC statement, and nothing's been charged. I contacted my CC company, explained my situation, and put an alert on my acct.

The company's email address is no longer valid, and they're not answering their phones.

I'm soooooooo upset about this - not even the identity theft possibilities, but moreso about the plate that I will most likely NOT be getting. This gift was so special, because we WENT to the little town of Siena, but the shop was closed. This was to have been a custom piece to match my parents' kitchen, with anniversary wishes on the back.

I don't know what to do. There's no BBB or anything to contact....I just want the gift!!!

Nic..there's a little store down here in the village that sells handmade plates...don't know if they do custom work, but i could ask.

I'm just upset about this particular store...Mom stared in the window for soooooo long, but like I said, it was a Sunday and they were closed. I would have loved it to say 'Siena 2005' on the bottom.

Vineyard - the custom plate was a 12" flat surfaced "pizza plate" (i thought this would be the best to put on an easel on display) with dark purple and burgundy grapes, with green vines.

Do you have a picture of exactly how you want it to look? I ordered a custom platter for my SIL's bridal shower and the lady did a WONDERFUL job. She can put almost anything on them. Its hand done.

He said he's going to contact his supplier first thing in the a.m, and that to give him a call tomorrow. He gets hand made plates imported from Italy, and he's going to find out about "Siena"..
I'll let you know what he says tomorrow.

Also, Moore's Deli, on Main Street in Port Jeff, has plates almost EXACTLY like you described. Very Pretty. Don't think they're "Siena", but they come close to what you're looking for. Moore's is right across the street from Salsa Salsa.
