16 month old - How much talking??

just wondering how much talking DS should be doing- he says some words and babbles on a whole lot- just wondering where he should be at-

my son is 16 months old and he says about five words. He still makes babbling/ grunting sounds alot.

Pretty much the same. With my oldest I think the word explosion was at 18 months.

DS is 15 months & babbles a lot but only says a couple words.

With DD she only had maybe 3-5 words...then she hit 2 & we couldn't get over how fast she came out w/ new words.

DS didn't talk much at 16 mos and I was worried (just me).
I called EI to see about getting him evaulated and they said b/c of his other developements he would pass the test. To call back at 18 mos and see then b/c at 18 mos they have 2 tests - development and speech - before 18 mos just one general test.
Well, about 5 days before he turned 18 mos he had his EXPLOSION.
EI did send me some info on how to get DS to talk more.

I also bought some early word flash cards to work w/ DS. FM if you want the name of the cards - I have to look for them. They were about $12 at Borders/BN/Amazon...
