13 months- how many words
My son just turned 13 months. He only says dada )been saying since 9 months) and occasionally mam. VERY rare and it just started this week. By 1 year my older daughter said so many more things. He was an early walker- starting walking 11 months (well early in comparison to my DD who was 13). My pediatrician said not to get concerned until he's 15 months.
What does your 13 month old son say? I do know they say boys are more behind with speech sometimes than girls are.
ETA- I don't even think "dada" is directed at my his and either. It's just the sound.
He does know things if I ask him. I'll say where is (his big sister" and he turns to her, or I'll say "do you wanna play toys" and he will get all excited.

13 months- how many words
My DD is 12 months and says dada, mama, and sometimes go. Other then that its mostly just sounds gagagaga etc.. I wouldn't worry just yet, some kids develop quicker then others. Is he in a daycare center or home? The more they hear, the more they mimick I think.

Re: 13 months- how many words
I have girls but they only said 1-2 words by 14 mo but had about 10 at 16 and 75 plus at 19/20 mo. And one had a receptive speech delay. 13 mo is very young so I wouldn't worry yet. Does he seem to understand what you are telling him or asking of him? (and idk how much truth there is to the boys talk later. My brother spoke complete conversations with adults at 2).

13 months- how many words
By 12m, DD was saying hi, bye, no, yay, row, ma, da and maybe another word or 2.
She's 14.5m now and says all of the above but also shoe, here, ear, nose, what's that, eye, school (coo), sit, belly (bey) and maybe a couple of others I can't think of right now.
She is only starting to take independent steps as of a couple of days ago.
ETA: She also says boon (balloon), Mo (Elmo), shie (fishie), and dog.

13 months- how many words
My DS is also 13 months and says "dada" constantly and occasionally "mama" when he is in distress. He doesn't use either word appropriately - he refers to everyone/thing as dada. He'll occasionally makes ba or ga sound, but nothing consistently. I'm not concerned yet. My niece didn't really have any words til closer to 18 months and now at 21 months, she's talking up a storm.

13 months- how many words
Ds is 14 months and up until this week he only said mama and dada. All of a sudden he is saying bubbles, hi, bye bye, baba. He has slight hearing loss due to ear infections and fluid and is getting tubes on june 26th so Hopefully his speech will take off after that.
I have a hard time not comparing him to my older dd who said about 10 words by 12 months and was stringing up to 3 words together by 15 months. But she didn't walk until 15 months and ds walked at 12 months

At 12 months, DS1 said mama, dada, burp, & up. When he hit 17 months, he was talking in 3-4 word sentences. I wouldn't worry until the doctor thinks you should!

13 months- how many words
At 12 months DS only said dada and mama. But not to us. Just babbling. I had him speech evaluated twice because his twin sister was talking way more than him at 12 months. They said she was advanced and he was where he should be because he understood certain things. He did not say much at all until 24 months. Then boom! He wouldn't shut up lol. That's when he really started talking and actually putting words together.

Lots of 2 year olds don't have many words. Don't worry: big range.

Re: 13 months- how many words
I wouldn't worry at all. There's such a wide range of speech and 13 months is really young to have a lot of words. DS1 had a few words that he said in the correct context at that age and DS2 didn't really have any. DS2 spoke a little later than DS1 and had a handful of words around 15 months. The language explosion, especially for boys, is usually closer to 18 months+. Sometimes the younger siblings talk later when the older ones do a lot of the talking for them.

13 months- how many words
My son is 15 months. He says mama, dada (everyone is dada!), bad, uh oh, more, please, thank you, peppa, big bird, kitty, huh, grandpa, Gigi (grandma), boo, hi, bye bye, kids, bubbles, pop, ball. He also does a lot of babbling that sometimes I think it sounds like a word, but I'm not sure.

This, but still in my very limited experience, my DS's language grew leaps and bounds between 12-15 months and then again even more between 15-18 months. I would just keep talking and encourage your little one to try new words and the next thing you know, they have a whole little vocabulary!

Re: 13 months- how many words
I have a 13 month old (well on Tuesday he will be) and he is only saying hi and jack(his brother). He was walking at 9 months. I don't remember my older one saying much until 2 when his language exploded (and now he never stays quiet).

Re: 13 months- how many words
My first said nothing at that age and my second says too much, it is scary though it's like those talking baby commercials.
As long as they understand what you're saying is all that counts at this age

At that age, my son was saying dadoo (daddy or dog, we couldn't tell, haha) and tahboo (for Thomas). That was it! Not even mama! But he understood everything you said to him. By 18 months, he had hundreds of words and was using short sentences. So it can come all at once. I think 13 months is early to worry.

Re: 13 months- how many words
Both of my kids had zero words at 13mo. DD had a word explosion with mini sentences right before 2. Full sentences just after 2. DS has 100+ words now (almost 2) and mini sentences
So try not to stress! With DD I was so worried. She said almost nothing at 18mo (<5 words), and by 26 months we got comments on how she spoke like a 3+ year old!
ETA: Both of mine were early walkers (10mo) . Not sure if the early walker, late talker thing is true, but it was for mine!
