what are the thoughts on the
global change predicited for 2012?

I think that IF anything happens at the end of the Mayan calendar, it is going to be a good thing.. not a catastrophe. The calendar STOPS.. it doesn't predict anything negative. Many people - myself included - simply believe that the winter solstice of 2012 is simply a new beginning. Nothing has to die and there doesn't have to be any cataclysmic change for a new beginning to happen. I honestly would like to believe that it is the dawn of a more spiritual and soul awakening time in humanity.

ITA. Even in the most ancient of cultures, the Apocalypse is a new and very different beginning, not the "end of time."
The Christians deemed it the end of time for a multitude of reasons, none of which I really want to begin to discuss here

I agree-the calendar just stops....its people now who are interpreting this. I read somewhere that the Mayan people wouldn't know what you were talking about if you mentioned it to them

I think it means lots of presents comin' my way....it'll be my 37th birthday.
I don't think it's the end of the world or anything drastic like that. And if I'm wrong, at least no one will be around to say "I told you so!"
