12 week sonogram next Monday
When I went for the 12 week with DS, they were able to make an educated guess that it was a boy, and they were right. I would like to ask next week and see if they can make a guess with this baby (knowing not to run out and buy any pink or blue until the 20 week!) Does anyone else have success with finding out the sex at 12 weeks, or was it just dumb luck that the tech guessed right last time? TIA! 
I have a very strong  feeling...I am dying to know if I am right!

i could be wrong but i don't even think they have developed reproductive organs at that point.....when i went for the twins first sono i am almost for certain that the tech said i wish i could tell you but your babies don't even konw what they are yet.....sounds like a really good guess.....ill send some  ...hope it helps!! but healthy girl or boy will be amazing

I'm going for my next u/s tomorrow and I'll be one day short of 12 weeks. I've heard of girls finding out the sex that early sometimes and was wondering the same thing. I'm not getting my hopes up though.

oh a healthy boy or girl is all that matters! I don't have a preferance...I just have the feeling it's a girl, not the preferance that it's one. I'm pretty sure that from very early on the baby develops it's reproductive organs. I know that the tech said she could make the guess it was a boy based on what she saw, but to run out and buy blue until my level II. She ended up being right, so I was just wondering if it's worth asking for this baby. She could have been pulling my chain
 and had no clue what the he ll she was looking at, but that would be pretty mean!

The baby has reproductive organs at that point, but it can be very hard to distinguish between male and female genitalia. This is why most techs won't guess the sex then. From what I've heard, it's easier for the tech to correctly guess the sex at 12 weeks if it's a boy. If the tech guesses the sex, I'd make sure to confirm it at the Level II.

I thought the very earliest would be 16 weeks due to fetal development. At 12 weeks I though that male and female parts both looked like female parts. That's what it looked like in my "In the Womb" book.

it has to do with the angle. Someone one her posted a good link once.....
the boys are more of a 90 degree angle, where the girls are more in line with the spine.

my doctor wouldn't even take a guess at the sex of the baby.. they said it was too early to tell..
