10w apt - some good some ??
So I'm 10w3d today. My due date has slightly changed. Heard LOs heart beat, which is the best sound ever. so happy!!
Got one panel of blood tests - had to get stabbed twice since the first vein was not cooperative. This is torture for me. Im so scared of needles Must go back for another panel for all the lovely Jew diseases. Joy. I think I'll wait a bit until my veins heal.
Bad - dr found protein in my urine. Has this happened to anyone. She said it was a little, but of course I'm still freaking out.

Any time I had juice with breakfast (OJ especially) they'd see some protein in my urine. I just stopped having juice with breakfast. Nothing to worry about -- they'll let you know what, if anything, you'd need to do about it.
Sorry about the needles thing. I used to be the same way! I had to finally get over it.  It's so important for you and the baby for proper prenatal care.
Congratulations on hearing the hb!!  That's great!!

at my appointment around 17 weeks I had a large amount of protein in my urine. My Dr had me come back a week later to retest the urine, she wasnt concerned since my BP was fine. I went back a week later and I was fine; she chalked it up to discharge in the urine (sorry TMI), being dehydrated, or my body was just having an 'off' day. good luck!

I went in on Weds for what i thought was a UTI, they found traces of whatever it is that detects a UTI as well as protein... but my BP was normal as well... they didnt tell me what could have caused it but the Dr didnt give it much thought...

Thanks ladies. I'm hoping it doesn't amount to anything. My dr wants me to collect urine for 24hrs. Can't wait, lol. I hate this whole process of waiting. I'm impatient, lol.
Antonella, I will go next week. They took a lot today, and told me next week would be fine. I don't go back to see my dr until the end of sept - nt scan mid sept.
I can't wait until I'm in the safer second trimester!!

Protein in urine, particularly early in pregnancy, is usually indicative of either a UTI or dehydration (or both). They should send your urine to a lab to test for a UTI. If you have a UTI, you'll go on an antibiotic. Otherwise, just up your water intake and that should fix it.
Protein in urine is fairly common in pregnancy and could last the entire time. If it's combines with high BP and/or swelling, it could be indicative of pre-eclampsia. However, at only 10w that's really, really unlikely.

Thank you. This was very informative. I don't feel like I have a uti, but I'm very, very bad with my water intake. My appointment was at 1015, I didn't get in to see her until after 11, and I hadn't had anything to drink all day. So bad - I just never have been a big drinker. I've been trying but clearly, maybe, I'm not doing a good enough job. She is asking for a 24hr urine sample to send to the lab - hopefully thatll explain everything.

glad you heard the heartbeat - its amazing!!!
i am the same way with needles (have fainted in the past from them) but seems most of the doctors/labs i have been to now have done it pain free. i had the jewish testing done as well...and just to warn you it was about 14 tubes of blood they took
i had protein in my urine at my 15 week appt and the dr sent the urine out for a lab to be tested for a UTI and it was nothing. i wouldnt worry about it too much since it was just one visit. they should keep testing your urine and hopefully at the next visit you will be fine
