10.5 months table food protest! help!
My dd is 10.5 months and is continuing to protest table foods. She gags and then refuses to eat. When she does eat it she eats extremely small amount. Then she just wants a bottle.
I also give her a sippy cup at every meal ans she continues to just chew on the straw and only once in a while takes a sip. Then she chews on the handle and throws it on the floor.
What do i do? My peds is telling me she should be eating 3 times a day plus 2 snacks. And drinking water and/or watered down juice my choice. Shes nowhere near this. And im starting to worry.
She only wants purees which i am giving her 3 times a day so shes eating somethinh. but keep trying table food first until she just stops eating.
Want to add she just got her first tooth but she been doing this for a month now with the table food but noticed it got worse this week.
Eta: can anyone offer suggestions to ease this transition? Any advice welcome.
Shes also not feeding herself she still just plays with the food and throws it on the floor.

I don't think I'd stress it too much. Just keep trying but don't push too hard, every LO is ready in their own time. My ped told me that some kids are gnawing on steak at 9 months and others are gagging on purees at a year.
DD goes through cycles where she eats a ton or hardly anything. When I started having her try finger foods she pretty much stopped eating any solids for a few weeks. She doesn't like to not be in control and avoids things altogether when she's not comfortable. Eventually she got the hang of it.
What does DC eat now? For DD, she always loved puffs and cheerios. I started giving her a little of my toast in the morning which she liked too. She loved banana, peas, blueberries, broccoli, pasta with butter. When she wasn't eating much finger foods, I would give her oatmeal or a pouch to supplement and let her nurse as much as she wanted. She never went hungry and still got a good variety of foods.
At 12 months, I still struggle to get her to eat the suggested 3 meals and 2 snacks. She gets a yogurt pouch for lunch which isn't much but it's all she'll eat. She only recently started snacking more and eats cheerios, puffs, blueberries, cereal bars, or teething biscuits between meals.
As far as throwing food on the floor, I don't see DD stopping that any time soon. I figure it's normal. She also barely get much water down and throws the sippy on the floor constantly. She won't let me leave it on her tray after she's had a sip. I leave one where she can get to it any time although she usually gets more on the floor and coffee table then in her mouth.

I'd say she wasn't ready for it yet and just keep giving her purees. Maybe try again in a month or so.
