1 year old eating/sleeping

My ds turns one later this month. He still seems to prefer bottles (formula) over food especially if its me feeding him- he'll scream and refuse food until I give the bottle- so I know he is hungry but not going for the food- eats better with others. He associates me with the bottle. Also he still wakes at night for a bottle 1-2 x. The interrupted sleep is really catching up to me. Those bottles I've started to water down hoping to wean. And isn't he supposed to start whole milk soon but how can I do that if he is not getting enough nutrition with real food during day? Last dr visit they said let him cry it out. I tried. I failed.

Advice?

The waking for a bottle at night is habit not hunger so if stop feeding. You don't have to do CIO but I def would not feed. Also just keep with the food. Once you change to milk they cannot drink as much milk as formula. I would offer water as a liquid and push table food. It takes them a few times eating something before they actully like it.

You need to be strong though and not give in just to stop the crying.

I'm sorry you are going through this...what foods have you introduced to him? I used the website wholesomebabyfood.com and I literally tried every single food that I could and once I found what she liked I worked with it. The other thing is I didn't offer her snacks in between meals so I knew she would be starving by the time meal time came and that got her to eat and try new foods. As for the middle of the night I really don't have advice, I would talk to the doctor again and see if there is something else you could do rather than CIO. What time is his last meal before he goes down for the night? Make sure he is eating a heavy meal or enough so he will be full and not wake during the night.

Re: 1 year old eating/sleeping

thank you so much for your feedback - I have to try harder - its a "catch 22" too tired to do more but then not getting sleep because I am not doing it right.
Last night he did only water bottles middle of night from 10-5 so still up but at least not for food.

thanks for the website - i will check it out now

Don't offer anything though. By switching to water it is just continuing the habit.
