1 month olds will only sleep on stomach....is that ok?
im trying to transition my twins into their cribs and they wont fall asleep on their backs.
after an hour of them fussing i flipped them to their bellies and within 2 minutes they were both passed out.
they always fall asleep during tummy time too!
now im sitting in their room right now bc im terrified of them sleeping like this
can i leave them like this? or should i just keep trying to get them to sleep on their backs?

My dd is a belly sleeper. How is their neck control? If it makes you feel better, you can get an angel monitor.

DS slept on his belly in the hospital... At home I let him nap on his belly sometimes. Can you flip them over to their back after they fall asleep and see what happens?

I personally would be a nervous wreck so for me, no, I wouldn't let a one month old sleep on their tummy. The SIDS risk for new babies scares me so I always kept DD on her back.

As a SIDS mom, my vote is no. It's not safe. I only allowed tummy sleeping when they were right next to me(and I was wide awake).

I think I would try to flip the baby over after they fall asleep if you can. Or try this magic sleep suit A friend of mine said it was amazing in helping her baby stay asleep.
Both of my kids were/are belly sleepers from the first few days home from the hospital. #1 would throw up whenever he was on his back & reswallow it & choke so on his belly he went. #2 is just stubborn so belly was best for all of us.

It depends more on their neck control than age. DD was a belly sleeper from a young age. She had really great neck control and I watched her like a hawk on the video monitor. I also had nothing in her crib - no bumpers, blanket...nothing. It's not recommended because of the risk of SIDS, but it's what worked for us. She's almost 19 months now and is still a belly sleeper.

Re: 1 month olds will only sleep on stomach....is that ok?
Just to clarify, the risk of SIDS has nothing to do with head control or suffocation, SIDS and Suffocation are two different things. SIDS is an unknown/unexplained cause of death, Suffocation, is just that and god forbid a baby suffocates, the COD is known.
They *think* SIDS is caused by rebreathing exhaled Carbon Dioxide instead of fresh O2. When a babies face is close to the mattress it does not allow fresh air to circulate and they rebreathe the exhaled Carbon Dioxide. Their systems are too immature to process this and for some babies (and you never know which ones) this can be unfortunately fatal. This is also why the do not recommend blankets, and bumpers etc. Not ONLY bc of the hazard BUT, especially bumpers, it does NOT allow the air to circulate through the crib.
To prevent SIDS, they now recommend, nothing in the crib, baby on their back and a fan on low to keep air circulating.
Just wanted to clarify that SIDS has nothing to do with head/neck control and IS about the circulation of fresh air, or lack thereof it is believed.
So no, there is NO way I would let my babies sleep on their stomach bc there is no way to predict which baby could be effected.
