1 month old DS wont nap unless he's held
The past few days, I've been held hostage by this little guy. He's cute and I do love holding him, but he won't let me put him down to do anything!
I know he's tired while I feed or hold him cause he looks drowsy, does the eye flutter thing yawns, etc., but then when I either swaddle him or put him down, he becomes alert and cries/screams until I pick him up. People say to nap when he naps... I can't if I'm holding him! And NOTHING is getting done in my house... cleaning, bills, washing his bottles, etc. I'm even painstakingly writing this on my phone with my non-dominant hand while he's asleep on my right arm which is also asleèp! And that's after he SCREAMED for me to pick him up.
Any advice? Please? It KILLS me to hear him cry/scream. We have a swing for him, vibrating bouncer, rock n play sleeper and even his car seat, but he only wants to be held. Help!

That was my DD exactly. Always wanted to be held. I loved it in the beginning but it became a habit. As much as I loved holding her, I will not be making the same mistake with this baby.

Re: 1 month old DS wont nap unless he's held
If I would let DC fall asleep in my arms then try to put them down, they always woke up and wanted to be held. So at young ages, I always had them in their swing while they were just 'chilling out' and eventually, they'd fall asleep.
I never used one, but a lot of women use sling, have you tried that?

Re: 1 month old DS wont nap unless he's held
Thanks!
I tried the sling yesterday... he got a "rug burn" type thing on his leg (I guess I didn't see that it was rubbing against a strap. ) and his head kept flopping back and forth (I think I need to adjust something on it).
But I don't want him to get USED to being held - even in a sling. I mean, I want him to want mommy to hold him - just not 24-7. Isn't that a hard habit to break?
Any suggestions to get him to stay napping - NOT on me? Do I have to get him as soon as he starts crying... even if I know there's nothing "wrong"?

This! Carriers are fabulous at that age!

I don't think you can really spoil him at this age by letting him nap on you or in the carrier, etc. I think he is too young to get used to things like. As he gets older and is a little more secure in his body he will let you put him down to nap.
What carrier were you using when he got his 'rug' burn?
