1 hr glucose test question

Ok, so as pathetic as this sounds.. I am dying to eat something sweet (ice cream to be exact) but I have my 1 hr test at 3:30.. so I have to fast from 1:30 and drink the drink at 2:30. If I eat candy or ice cream or something sugary now is it going to affect the results?

i dont know for sure but i wouldn't risk it. wait and have the sugary something for dessert later. I actually cut out major sweets the day before when i took the test. the bottle of stuff said to limit sweets 2 days prior.

Honestly I wouldn't chance it...only because I do not want to take the 3 hour one

I agree with everyone else. Don't risk it now, I'm sure you can wait til after to have it, it will make it that much more satisfying! Good luck!

I had my 1 hour blood drawn at almost 5pm. No one told me to fast. I ate a regular lunch at around 12 and took the test. I failed by just a couple of points. I took the 3 hour after fasting a full 12 hours and passed with flying colors.

I am convinced I failed because I took the test so late in the day.

I wouldn't take the chance.

with DS1, i took the test at 8pm after eating breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks all day - passed with a 99.

with DS2, i took the test at 7am after eating cinnamon swirl toast at 6:30am and again - passed with a 100.

It really doesn't matter what you eat!
