1 hour Glucose test..

I have one scheduled for this saturday but noone told me what was involved, if I can eat before you what...im going to look up right now but if any of you could give me insight, I'd appreciate it!

also, how terrible is the liquid. i gag so easily and am nervous that I wont be able to keep it down.

Normally you dont have to fast for the 1 hour but just double check with your dr. because sometimes they do want you to. It's not the best tasting stuff in the world, Im not going to lie. Plus they want you to drink it all within 5 minutes so that doesn't help either. It's really really sugary. Good luck, you'll probably do fine with it!

I just had mine on tuesday. My ob and also the people at Quest said I did not have to fast for the 1 hour. The drink isn't that bad at all. It tastes like flat orange soda. I chugged it in 1 minute. Bring something to do for an hour! My cell phone died so I couldnt even go online, I brought my crocheting stuff and watched the View for an hour lol.

okay sugery i guess i can deal with. i thought it was like this liquid that when i was a little kid i remember my grandmother having to drink for like a week for some test. it was like 10 gallons and this horrid color.

You can eat beforehand but honestly I would stay away from anything that has sugar so it doesn't drive up your number. The drink isn't that bad. I had the orange, chugged half of it and then felt a little off so I slowed down. So I don't recommend doin that LOL. I would say about 1/2 hr into it I was feeling weird but it went away before I was even called in for the bloodwork. I passed with a 102. I think passing is below 130

I didn't have anything to eat after dinner the night before (I took it at 9 am) -- they said I could eat a little protein that morning if I needed to, but it would be most accurate without any carbs or sugar in me. You're not supposed to drink anything else or eat anything or go to the bathroom once you drink it until after they do the blood draw.

My office gave it to me in advance and I drank it at home and wrote down the time then went in and they took my blood 1 hour after I drank it. I had the red color drink and it wasn't bad at all. Kinda like kool aid. I drank it with a straw pretty fast. You're supposed to finish the whole thing within 5 minutes. I think it took me less than a minute to drink it. It's not that much.

My dr said I am getting mine at my next appt (24 wks) and that I shouldn't eat or drink anything except water or 2 hours beforehand...,

I had to fast but I was getting other bloodwork also.

You drink this stuff that's kind of like an overly sweet, really potent orange soda (doesn't taste great) and then sit for an hour and they draw your blood.
