i would just explain to her that you lost touch abit and didnt thininviting her was teh right decion. i am also like this as far as inviting people i always feel like it looks like i am looking for a goft.Obvioulsy close friends are one ting but there are people that you are on the fence about inviting and just explain your reasons to her.
Me personally i would never have teh nerve to write that to someone.

wow you sound like me i hate confrontation and i have certian friends i hate it with even more. Maybe just email her and explain your side and then let it go and make your plans for lunch. if she is a true friend this will blow over
