Anxiety meds for dog..Any experience?
We have been giving our 10 year old shitzu CBD oil for anxiet and arthritis. It has helped her dramatically! July 4 with the fireworks she was shaking like a leaf, we gave her ours and she calmed down almost instantly. We spoke to the vet and he’s all for it too. Def look into it :)

I realized I didn’t answer your original question at all
The vet prescribed Xanax for her originally and I just didn’t want to give it to her
My girlfriend gives her 10 year old poodle Xanax and has seen positive results in his anxiety (he freaked out when she had her 4th baby for some reason, was sad not eating super depressed and anxious and barking non Stop) she said he’s much better but definitely a little sluggish

I had good results with my cats with Bach’s Recuse Remedy. But you need to try it out first. It might not work for you.
Ask about. Zylkene. I used that for my cat and it worked really well for him. You sprinkle it on the wet food, and that’s it.

Our vet originally told me to use Xanax on our little barker, but it was like a tic tac to him. The Trazadone works much better but we only use it for thunderstoms and fireworks. Even then, he's not great but much better then without them.
You really have to try different things and see which works best. A friend of mine gives her dog prozac and trazadone when needed.

We gave our dog trazadone when we traveled with him by plane. The vet told us that it was a very safe medication and we felt comfortable gviing it to him. It definitely helped him stay calm on the flight. He wasn't asleep, but wasn't barking either. It kept him calm and the effects were gone the next day. That first night at our destination he slept great in the crate that we borrrowed. The next night was a disater and he wound up sleeping in the room with us which we don't do. So I can see how the meds helped calm him.

OMG! I literally posted almost the exact thing the other day. CBD oils are working great for our aging girl! Anxiety and arthritis. She seems much more comfortable and relaxed. Worked wonders on the 4th!

We did Xanax at first while incorporating behavior training but after a while it didn’t seem to work as well. We switched to Prozac and since then he has been amazing. My dog is my life. We used to be the same way. My husband or I had to walk his around the neighborhood at night. We would get calls from our complex on him that he is crying. It was really cute though driving through the CVS drive through asking for Rocky’s Xanax. They did always have treats for him. The Prozac is way more cost than effective and I can get it in a 90 day supply. If you have any questions please let me know. Rocky has been on meds since 2011.

Which CBD oil do you use on your dog? MY rottie is 10.5 and can use a little help in the back leg department. She's on supplements now that seem to help some, but the mornings are rough for her.

I agree with the Rescue Remedy. I tried it myself before giving it to the cat and it really worked. I felt so calm and relaxed. I always make sure to have a bottle on hand (for cat not me).
