I think 3 different formulas in 2 weeks is a lot of switching. It takes time for there tummies to adjust. If you stay on allimentum try and get through your insurance. Good Luck

I was told a week on each formula. My dd got diarrhea on the regular at 1.5 w and after 3 days of diarrhea I switched to sensitive which helped. She still only poops 1x a day but its not constipation. It's normal. I probably would have given that a week to see what happened before switching to alimentum.

My older DD, I switched to sensitive and it got better before it was worse again so I switched to alimentum wo waiting a week and it was what she needed. So 3 in about 2 weeks.

I just went through this too... My baby is 4 weeks today and has been on different formulas. It should only take 24-48 hours to see a difference. She wasn't pooping for like 4-5 days on Similac Advance or even the gerber soothe which is supposed to be the easiest to digest. She was also constantly screaming out in pain and wasn't sleeping. Switched to Alimentum last Thursday and she's like a completely different baby. Doing so much better! Unfortunately, we're gonna go broke with it lol

That's a lot of changes for a baby so young. Also, the pushing and grunting could be normal. DD was like that for a few weeks and grew out of it. I think she just wasn't used to the feeling. Dr said it was normal, too.

You sound like me! Dd was on similac advance for a week then I switched her to sensitive bc she was super gassy, then that caused her to be constipated so after a week I switched her to alimentum rtf. So far she is much better, the only thing I've noticed is bc the formula is thinner it causes her to spit up more so I have to make sure not to over feed her and stop her after 2 oz to burp her (right now she takes about 4 oz every 3 hrs). She is a month old. Also if you can get alimentum covered by insurance then that's great bc it's expensive.

Yes, you switched too much and did it very quickly. It can take anywhere from 3-8 days my pediatrician said for a baby's system to become acclimated to changes. Also regarding the poop, its totally normally for a newborn to only poop once a day and to strain while doing it. Babies can actually go a few days without pooping without concern. I know its uncomfortable for us to watch them push and get red in the face, but it's really completely normal. Gas is very normal too. Babies are "jet propelled" meaning that they need gas to have a bowel movement. As your system gets more mature, your body learns to use your muscles to push out the poop, but babies cannot do that. The air helps open the passageway. Various color poop and consistency is also normal. Anything except red, black, or white poop is a-okay.
