OMG....while i understand somethings...i do not understand others...I think your mother was very wrong for telling him to not get his kids...And yo brother was wrong for yellling at his ex when she was reaching out for help....she did have his kids...
I can understand that he wanted the GC because it makes sense to me...and why your mom didn't do that...well i dunno. BUT getting into arguments over stupid crap like this is silly....

It wasn't really a "I need help" call. It was more of "I'm sick and tired of these kids. They don't behave. Come and get them"
And, my mom just thought that my brother has been letting his ex-wife do whatever she wants with the kids for the last 10 years, but whenever she asks him for something, he drops everything to help her. I guess she was really trying to say "when are you going to stop "jumping" whenever this woman tells you to jump". But , mom knows she was wrong and she did apologize to him and told him that she shouldn't have told him not to go.
ahhhhh...well that is different. From they way you described it above i thought she was in need of help...not dumping her kids.
Still i think your brother fighting over the fact that his daughter didn't get the gift he wanted is silly...life is too short to argue about such stupid matters....
