Ok, I'm FED UP with my new firm!!!! LOOOONG vent, but I have to get it out!

I HATE THIS ****** FIRM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so aside from the stupid retreat to Jamaica, they also have a "firm family picnic" this weekend on Saturday. Loaded with kids activities - moonwalk, pony rides, hotdog stand, ice cream stand, clowns, etc. Sounds "family friendly", right?! WRONG. They tell us because there are too many people coming that we have to park at the office in Morristown and then a shuttle will take us from the office to the partner's house where the picnic is located. They also tell us, if you are coming with family, drop them off at the partner's house, drive to the office location, park and take the shuttle back. Yes, well, I can't do that because DH's mom is in town and flies out that day so he'll be taking her to the airport, so it's just me and Alex and I can't very well drop her off with total strangers for 20 minutes while I drive to a parking lot and take a shuttle back.

So I call the woman organizing it and ask, so, I'm assuming the shuttle has carseats, or at the very least, I can put my carseat into it, so I don't have to drop Alex off with strangers at this guys house for 20 minutes while I go park my car and take the shuttle back. The freakin' dingbats get "luxury" shuttle buses that don't have seatbelts, which means I can't put her car seat in it. So, I ask, can I just park at his house please? The response is no, there is going to be too much traffic.

I ask you this - if you were organizing a HUGE, 500 person "family" picnic, wouldn't you sure as hell make sure there was a way to cart CHILDREN back and forth?!!! SO it looks like I have to bow out of the picnic. Yet another strike for working mommies in the world...

That is absurd! I would suggest that they hire a compnay to valet park everyone in the office parking lot rather than get a shuttle! That makes absoultely no sense. So you will have to not only lug kids on the shuttle, but diaper bags, etc.

That really stinks!

I'm working with a headhunter as I type... I'm getting the hell out of here. And they have the NERVE to tout themselves as a family friendly firm... give me a BREAK!!!

I'd break the rules and park near the picnic itself,with all the comotion,who would ever know?

I'd be worried about working for a firm like that. If they open themselves wide up for liability, how the heck are they supposed to protect their clients??? I see a big malpractice suit in their future.

I can't believe you lasted as long as you did. It seems that you work to hard to try to please them and get nothing in return. I would either not go and give your regrets for not going to the partner where it will be held or drive to the house and not take the shuttle, maybe park a few blocks away.

Well, I just emailed the head of HR and informed her that my daughter and I will NOT be attending. I am NOT sacrificing my daughter's safety for ANYONE. They can kiss my arse!! I can't wait to get the hell out of here

Beth- I would be so pizzed off as well! Let us know if the HR person has anything to say about you not going....

That REALLY STINKS Beth...all around. Working mommy or not...they really S&CK at doing anything for their firm...
