ER & Transfer - timing
From what I was told they pretty much said throw "your" schedule out the window...its all up to how you respond to the meds...that will determine when you have your ER...I was also told that the ER time is based on how many procedure they have that day as well...with the ET it all depends on how the embryos develop...I was told that could happen possibly in the early afternoon but it all depends on how many procedures they have...for the ER they said I have to take the day off

Re: ER & Transfer - timing
My ER and ET were both done in the morning. I think I needed to be there by 7 am for both of them. After both, there is no way I could have gone to work. I was in pain after the ER and groggy due to the anesthesia. I was given a valium before the ET so I was groggy that entire day as well. So even if I wanted to go to work, I couldn't because of the meds.
ETA: It is highly unlikely both will fall on a weekend. If you have the ER on Saturday, your 5dt will be on Thursday. If you have it on Sunday, your 5dt will be on Friday.....

Re: ER & Transfer - timing
During my first IVF cycle which in the end was cancelled I had a similar issue. I needed my retrieval and transfer scheduled around my work schedule and was basically told you can't. You are scheduled based on how many they have to do that day. With my first FET I had more flexibility since it was a medicated FET.

Re: ER & Transfer - timing
A lot of it has to do with the blood testing and how they send it out and when it comes back, etc. You should also get the protocol for your IVF cycle ahead of time and read it carefully. Many of us did not return to work the day of our ER and you can't the day of/after the ET. You may have some flexibility over a weekend if the timing is right, but nothing went as planned for me personally.

Re: ER & Transfer - timing
All 3 IVF's I was in bed after the ER. However, after my transfer I only had to take it easy for a few hours and then resume "normal activity"...of course, I laid in bed all day...I probably would have stood on my head if I knew that would keep them in :)
Good Luck!!!!!!!!! I would just suggest taking the day off once you know when your ER & ET are. Most offices do not schedule your appointment according to your schedule.

Thank you all for your responses. What you've said is in line with what I figured...but hoped wasn't true. I guess I'll just have to wait it out and see what happens. While I'm not willing to forfeit doing IVF, I also cannot afford to lose my job because of this. I knew being a working mother wouldn't be easy...I just didn't know it would start before conception!!!
If you have a doctors note you cannot lose you job otherwise you will have a huge lawsuit on your hands. :) Stop worrying ...it will all fall into place. Maybe you'll have an afternoon appointment and just have to take a half day or maybe it will just be done on a weekend...good luck!!!!!

ER & Transfer - timing
also for ER you will need to have someone there to drive you home since you will have been sedated...you could also take a cab as well but they wont let you drive...

Oh boy....so we have to work out his schedule too.
I would talk to your RE. My DH had jury duty on the day of my ER. We knew he was chosen for a trial, and they would not let him off, so DH was able to freeze his sperm.

Re: ER & Transfer - timing
My practice only did ER in the morning and ETs were right after, usually late morning/early afternoon.
You will not want to/be capable of going to work after your ER, but you should be fine after the ET...though you'll probably want to take it easy.
I'm sure your company allows sick days. Otherwise, consider telling your boss/HR what you're going through and ask for consideration.

Do you mind sharing which which practice you go to? If not, it's okay!

Re: ER & Transfer - timing
I went to RMA.
Personally, I think you have to prioritize your health and safety - and that means taking off on the days you've had the ER and possibly ET.
