Re: ?? about pregnancy and Fifths Disease

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I just found this I hope it helps:

Risks in Pregnancy

Though there is risk to the pregnancy, more than 95% of women infected during pregnancy will have no problems for either their baby or themselves.
The virus does not appear to cause birth defects.
There is a 5% increase in miscarriage if the mother is infected during the first three months of pregnancy.
After the 12th week, infection causes a 3% incidence of fetal loss, believed to be caused by a severe anemia. Ultra-sound examinations may detect this, and intra-uterine blood transfusions are the treatment of choice.

me too....but I do remember my sister having it when we were young so I probably had it without knowing it....I teased my mom she didn't "care" for me b/c I must have suffered thorugh it alone when I got it...

how sad about the woman, though..Chat Icon

Honestly, all that I know is that it's some kind of parvo virus. I had it about 3 years ago. Just got a rash, no other real symptons.

My friend had a D&C on Friday, but doesn't have any real answers yet as to what the cause of the miscarriage was. They were going to do some kind of testing to see if they could find out more.
She is very upset, obviously. Luckily she has a 2 year old son that is keeping her busy
