Re: Is this strange? I especially want to hear from the Guys

I don't think it strange..my mom had money put away for my wedding. With the costs of weddings these days, and the fact that the parents want to pay for their daughters wedding, I think its very smart of them to save now instead of search for money later.JMO

I don't really find it that strange actually, if the guy makes a lot of money. I dated my DH for over 2 years when we got engaged, I was over 30 and still was not in a hurry to get married. Everyone is on their own timeline.....

Re: Is this strange? I especially want to hear from the Guys

is it that they are't engaged or engaged without a ring? Did they just decide that getting married is what they want (that's how it happened with DH and I....we decided on the way home on a road trip that we wanted to get married, but he didn't have the $$ for a ring until my grandmother offered hers)

They're probably going to pay for a wedding whether it is with Guy or New Guy.

I think its strange that this is public knowledge.

Just like it is strange that an Aunt of my husband's basically has her daughter's dress and shower location picked out and she has been with him 3 months.

If you need to save either do it on the sly or wait till a ring is purchased or a real promise is made.

I dont think its weird. I know my mom was saving forever for my wedding. She gave me a huge gift, paid for my dress, most of my shower, along with TONS of other little things. I happen to know shes "saving" for her first grandchild as well. DH and I are not even TTC but thats just the way she is.

But also agree with HB, unsure why its public knowledge...
