Re: "Do you work here?"

I was swiping my debit card at Trader Joe's earlier today and some old lady comes up to me and asks me where the lamb chops were. The check-out girl's like "she doesn't work here and they're over_______________".

Re: "Do you work here?"

Especially if I stop at a store right from work. I usually wear the 3 button golf-shirts. They usually have either my company logo, or a logo that is not even close to the store I am in.

"Yes, I work here, but I don't like this place, that's why I'm wearing a shirt from another company...." Chat Icon

That happened to me at kmart in penn station. Some man approached me and just started asking me where things were. I looked at him like he was crazy, then realized that he thought I worked there. I freaked out on him explaining that I did not work there, I did not know where anything is and then went on a mini-tirade about how I work in 1 Penn Plaza, not for kmart and had already been to the office that morning and that my coat was upstairs...

He apologized, said he thought I possibly could have been a manager or something and then got away from me as fast as he could! Chat Icon

We walked from 2 Penn to Borders during the holiday season. I think it's because we had our key passes around our neck & no jackets. This guy started asking a question about books. I walked away thinking he wasn't talking to me since I don't work at Borders & didn't have the black shirt that they all wear. As my co-worker & I were going up the escalator, he was yelling about poor service & then we realized he was yelling at us.Chat Icon
