Re: with all this "green" talk
NASCAR has made the switch to unleaded fuel. I am sure if it was possible for them to go to hybrids they would. Most of the car owners also own dealerships which sell hybrids and flex fuel vehicles. I am pretty sure they are aware that polluting the environment is a no-no.

This is my guilty pleasure. I used to race locally, DH used to race.....although I do agree that on a grand scale there is an environmental issue, I am a fan

Re: with all this "green" talk
I feel that humans have deep desire for pleasure & recreation. That is not going to mean hiking or kayaking for everyone. I hold most recreational activies sort of "exempt" from my normal green guidelines. I especially like when people have a non-green toy like a speed boat, to make a green choice to balance it. Like maybe put solar panels on their house.

That would be fun to watch. Hybrid NASCAR with speeds up to 60 MPH!!! OMG bootleggers with a horse & buggy could go faster

Re: with all this "green" talk
While I may understand people liking motor sport, this is really a HUGE waste of energy when cars spins in circles for hours when we think about it. With no purpose but to entertain people.
Now that you pointed this out...I feel even less guilty about my smalll SUV.

Do you watch football, baseball or basketball? How do you think the teams get to destinations? I doubt they are taking a hybrid airplane. All sports pollute.

It was a realization of what motor sport is and it does indeed comsums energy for entertainment only. I have nothing against motor sports. Just answering to OP.
There is a lot of waste everywhere, in all industries. Not just entertainment.
There is no need to be "green" to see that.
