IMO yes it does....and to be quite frank...i think that if you have the money to give....GIVE IT.
This isn't a tit for tat thing...Just because maybe whene i was getting married they didn't have money doesn't mean if when they are getting married (if i am well off) i am going to give the same........
IMO that mentality is just cheeeeeezey........... same as the people who go to weddings who pay for their plate...
You should give based on 1. what you can afford 2. your relationship with the person.
People who are well off and give just what they got....are just sad and resentful people who will just WALLOW....in misery
If you are going to that wedding...give what you can....and if you can give more to the people you love...then do it.
