Does anyone make their own baby food??
If so, is there a book or anything anyone can recommend that I can refer to?? Also, can anyone share any tips/ideas?? I just want to get an idea of what it entails... TIA!!

Re: Does anyone make their own baby food??
My mom and my cousin have always made their own babyfood. We all cook really healthy food so they just got a baby food grinder and mashed whatever we were eating. I think it's a lot healthier and the babies seem to like it so much better. They would just gag at the taste of the store baby food. ICK so would I have you smelled it. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is mashing anything with cheese they seem to choke on it.

Re: Does anyone make their own baby food??
I heard that Super Baby Food is useful for instruction on how to prepare foods, but do not use it as a guide of what is appropriate at each age. It suggests introducing nuts (a risky allergen) way earlier than any pediatrician would and doesn't mention the risks of nitrates in spinach and carrots. So, as long as you are informed in advance about what is safe, it is a useful guide on how to prepare the food...

Re: Does anyone make their own baby food??
Absolutely cheaper IMO. Instead of some nearly 89 cent jar which you get 1, maybe 2 meals from I would use one sweet potatoe and get 5 meals (or something like that). The avocados are 2 for $3 but she LOVED them and you can't buy that in a jar anyway. Not only was it cheaper, I enjoyed it more. I would ground up a boiled chicken cutlet and that could be put in so many meals as opposed to a jar of "chicken and pears".
