When did you start giving your dc's juice?
I take Sydney to a group practice. I usually see the same doctor but this visit I saw one who we never met before. I dont know if she is accurate in what she says. Sydney is 10 1/2 months and the doctor said we should be giving her juice so that she is getting more servings of fruit a day. I never thought that giving juice was necessary, so I was going to hold off for a while on it. Do you feel it is important?

Re: When did you start giving your dc's juice?
I don't agree with that since fruit juice is mostly sugar. You can give her an extra serving of fruit without giving juice. I didn't start giving him juice until a few months ago and he didn't even like it at first. I water it down so much.. a just add a splash.
This is what I read: Does my Toddler Need Juice? The only nutrient toddler's really need from juice that they do not get from milk is Vitamin C. Although milk does not supply this nutrient it is more than likely that it does supply him with the fluid he needs. If your toddler urinates frequently and shows none of the signs of dehydration juice probably isn't necessary. Toddlers do not need juice for calories. Their milk and solid food supply an appropriate amount of calories. Some toddlers do need Vitamin C though so it is a good idea to offer your child food and drink that contain it.
Be sure to offer natural fruit juices not ones with added sugars. As with all foods nutrition is the most important thing. If your child does not want juice offer him solid foods that contain vitamin C. Fresh foods are always best because canned fruits and vegetables tend to lose their vitamins because of the heat used in packaging. Foods rich in vitamin C include kiwi, oranges, broccoli and tomatoes. With the large array of juices, fruits and vegetables available your toddler is sure to find one or two he can enjoy!

I just started Roman on juice. I buy Mott's light apple and dilute with water. He hasn't really taken to his sippy cup though

Sydney LOVES her sippy cup. I have only given her water in it....I think I am going to hold off on juice a little longer...though I did buy the Motts so I'd have it in the house if I change my mind.

Re: When did you start giving your dc's juice?
Ryan always perfered water over juice and has gotten water since day 1 (very small amount- like 1 oz)
@ around 6 months I started giving him more water in a sippy cup- and it wasnt til recently (about 1yr old) that he started liking juice in his cup as well- (Who am I kidding- now all he wants is juice)
I say stick with the water as long as you can- and if they think she needs more fruit- give her an extra jar for "desert" after dinner or something...
Water is sooo good for them!

Re: When did you start giving your dc's juice?
I used to give Noah apple juice from organic sugarfee concentrate in his sippy cup, but now I just give him water. The concentrate was great because I could put in as little or as much as I wanted...

Re: When did you start giving your dc's juice?
I have been giving Jacob a splash of juice in his water since he was a year old. He is 14 months now...
There is no right or wrong answer to this one. Some doctor's say you should give it and some doctor's don't. This is one thing that you as a parent have to figure out what is good for your child...
I have posted on here before my brother's answer to the juice question (he is a pediatrician).. Just to let you know he says yes to juice, my ped says no... Again, I don't think he would tell me information which would harm his nephew in any way..

Re: When did you start giving your dc's juice?
I give it to her only if she is constipated. We started at 3 months. I would like to never give it to her again and hopefully won't have to.
