i joined my church playgroup
i called up my church and they have a group that meets every wednesday. we went today and it was at a play location. olivia was the youngest and felt she didnt havetoo much to do. some of the moms talked to me others were talking among themselves. i felt out of place and was surprise more people werent social.

This sort of happened to me too, I met a woman in the park that told me our church had a playgroup on Fridays.
We meet in the lower church room and there are toys, crafts and room for the kids to play. The moms sit and have coffee/tea and snacks.
The woman who referred me was lovely, but I was not feeling it with the others ya know the usual, they already had stuff to talk about etc. I kept up with it though because while it would be nice for me to socialize I *really* wanted Aidan to meet friends.
Well its been a few weeks and they have warmed up. I've found mingling with moms from different groups that there are so many personalities most are people I would have nothing to do with if it were not for aidan. So unless they are horrible people I su ck it up so he can play with other children.
There may not be much for Olivia now, but its nice for you to get out as well. And before you know it she will be running with the kids as well

Why not just jump into one of their conversations! Thats always a good way to get started! I do it all the time and look at how popular I am!!! Seriously though, I find sometimes with groups that are already set up, just start a conversation with them about anything, ask them about their bags, or their kids outfits or something like that!! I found playgroups INVALUABLE to my life and I would still be sat at home crying without them!!!

I'm sorry. I know how you feel though. I was having Miranda when most of my friends were on their second so even going to playgroups with them I often feel quite out of place. Sometimes it feels like high school all over again.

Did you go the same church that Olivia was christened at? If they have playgroups on a Tues or Fri, I'll go with you and we can start our own little group.
Maybe it will get better as you go more often and get more familiar with everyone there.

Morgan the group in on wednesdays yes its the place we christened Olivia at. Also the Y in huntington has Y play groups 3 days a week. and one day is friday. Its only $35 for 10 week session.

I saw that, but figured E was really a little too young for a playgroup. I was thinking about it for the next session maybe.
