A forms file. The first form should be a letter to the Jury people saying that you are a sole care provider and can't make it to jury duty. I need one of those now.Chat Icon

I just got one in the mail too last week, so I sent a letter out saying I'm the only one who watches my DD, and a copy of her birth certificate.

I was wondering how that works....My DH got called for jury duty for this week. I was like what if I got called - what would I do, I am a SAHM because I have no one to watch my kid!

Its pretty easy, you just have to write a letter saying you are the only one who can watch your son during the day, and make a copy of his birth certificate and mail it in and you will get dismissed.

How many dismissals can you get?

I'm not sure, but it says you can be dismissed if your child is 15 and younger, so if you dont have anyone to watch your child up to that age, well you wont be doing jury duty for a long time!Chat Icon

I was called for jury duty back in June and sent the letter and copy of DS' birth certificate, but never heard anything back. Did you get an letter confirming your dismissal? I wonder if they got my letter or if they think I just blew off JD. Chat Icon

When I went to jury duty they said that no one gets dismissed. If you are the only one to watch your child, they will dismiss you once but after that you have to find some kind of care. That was in February so they might have changed it by now.

If you didn't get another summons saying your a deliquent juror, your fine. I got one, even after I sent in my paperwork, saying they never got it. I KNOW they did, I sent it in certified mail, return receipt!!!

So I called the number. A very nice lady helped me out, told me to resend everything in and call her back in a week. They did get my paperwork the second time and said I have a 2 year reprieve.

I am so happy I copied and saved everything I sent in. I even had proof I mailed the first set. It was just a HUGE PITA!

Dianne, you can just call the number on your paperwork, give them your juror number and they can look up and tell you your status.
