Any non-Christian MTB with Christian DHs?
My DH is adamant about having the baby christened. I was raised that the children take the mother's religion. I am not Christian, although I too was baptized. This was a big enough issue when we got married, and I was FORCED to get married in their church. I really don't want to make a big issue of it, and I KNOW that the ILs will have a fit if the baby is not christened.
Any BTDTs with advice?

I guess my question is that if they take your religion does it not permit baptizing? Do you practice you religion?

I'm Jewish and DH is catholic-
we decided a long time ago to try and raise our babies with exposure and some education in both religions- celebrate both holidays, etc.
Poor baby will have a bris and a baptism! Lots of presents for him!

It is not that it does not permit it, but it is not a Jesus-based religion and I feel like I'd be a hypocrite going through a baptismal.
I do plan on exposing the baby to all religions (including the judeo-christian religions) & letting then choose, as my parents did for me.
I just feel like the ILS do not take my beliefs seriously. As it is we had to get married in their church, celebrate Christmas, even though it is more of a family thing for me than a religious one, and Easter. I just think that it is not fair that they get to impose these boundaries. If DH wants to celebrate I would never try to stand in his way & actually encourage that time between him & his family. They, however, would flip if I had DH forego Christmas for a Winter Solstice celebration, KWIM?

Here's the thing, you might have confused your intent in general by agreeing to the church/religious wedding. That said, I have to say this is a personal choice for you and your DH...not your ILs or even YOUR parents to make or tell you what to do. Best of luck to you!
