About Cereal

DS has been on Rice and Oatmeal. He takes 2 tbsp in the morning and 2 at night. I haven't introduced him to barley. Once I do that can I do the Stage 3 beechnut cereal that combines all three or just stick to alternating between the 3.

Also can I introduce him to fruits while he's still in the process of being introduced to cereal?

As soon as you know that the barley agrees with him as well, you can buy the mixed cereal. As far as fruits, I'd just give the ped a call. Every dr. is different. My doc. wants us to wait on fruits because it's more likely that she's allergic to one of them, but also she might not take to veggies that well if she likes the sweeter fruits.

Actually by now he should have been on fruits because at 5 months the doctor told me to start him on veggies.

But I went at a slow pace because of my son's gas issues. Now he's been doing better at this slower pace. I had mentioned it to the doctor at one point that I had to put the breaks on the cereal. This was about 3 weeks ago. If he is not on fruits by his next visit and the doctor asks I will tell him the truth. I'm not worried about it as long as his weight gain is good.

His last visit was Sept.30 and he weighed 12lbs. 9oz. His next appointment is Nov. 18...so we'll see then what his weight is.
