I mentioned to a co-worker how I was looking for a mother's helper. She said she knew someone. It happens to be a boy. What teenage boys are interested in babies and cleaning house?

I guess it seems a bit odd. But, maybe he is looking to go into child care/teaching when he is older. Or maybe he is just desperate for a job that he will take what he can get.

Maybe he's the sensitive type?
Hey - if he's looking to scrub floors, I'll hire him too.

Re: Am I wrong to think this is strange?
My SIL has a boy babysitter. He's very responsible and loves my nephews. The kid needs money and he lives 2 doors away (SIL knows the mom). I think it's OK. He's very good with them.

Re: Am I wrong to think this is strange?
DH squashed that idea anyway. Apparently he has not so fond memories of a male babysitter

Re: Am I wrong to think this is strange?
My husband was a nanny from the time he was 19 till the time he was 25. He took a break for a while to go to college, but even after we were engaged, he worked for the same family driving their kids to and from practices, field trips, he would watch the boys when their parents would go out at night, do their homework with them, etc. I think it's part of why he is such an amazing dad. They were 3 and 5 when he started and now they are 11 and 13, and we are close friends of their family now. I see nothing wrong with a boy being a babysitter/care taker.
