Is it very bad to eat coldcuts for lunch? Low fat turkey or ham?
Thanks....

Re: Lunch Q
No, as long as that its done in moderation and from a reputable place.
For me, I find that I eat them more often than I did not being pg. Figures.
My doc said it was fine to eat it.

Re: Lunch Q
In NY it's fine, since the turnover rate is huge with deli meat (I guess NYers like their deli meat)
like another poster said - from a reputable place is fine

Re: Lunch Q
My doc said the same as above, also you should eat it cooked or heated if possible.

Re: Lunch Q
My doc said eat whatever I want - but I HAVE read and heard from others not to eat it. The reason is listeria - a bacteria that can grow on the food if it is not stored at the proper temperature (same reason for hot dogs). I still eat them anyway. I go to a very busy deli that only sells Boars Head. I figure, if they are that busy, the meat doesn't have time to sit.

YUP, this is the exact reason.
If you want cold cuts, ie. turkey, heat it until steaming and it should kill the bacteria.
There are usually just so many additives in deli stuff that I tend to stay away anyway. I bring leftovers for lunch.
