I just want to cry....

Well, thanks to Octoberbride I am planning on switching Dr's b/c my current situation sucks. I called Octoberbride's Dr.'s office and they were so sweet and understanding and they actually congratulated me (which is all I really wanted from the original Dr's office...is that too much to ask?). So this new Dr's office told me to keep my u/s appt on Nov.9th and then I can transfer my medical records to them after that and start seeing them.

Well, I just got my first blood test results today from Friday. At 4 weeks it was 272. I looked this number up online and when I talked to the new Dr's office they said this is completely normal. WELL, the old Dr's office just called and said my number is very low and they want me to retest on Friday...in the meantime I need to watch out for "pain, bleeding, pain in the shoulder, intense cramps, etc."...basically telling me they are worried I am going to miscarry.

I told them "well, that's interesting that you guys think the numbers are low b/c I looked them up and spoke with another Dr. who said the numbers are normal" and the nurse on the phone goes, "well, I don't know who you talked to but the numbers depend on the lab that you get your blood taken at and your numbers are low here. Your number should be between 500 and 10,000."

So, I am going in on Friday to get my blood taken for a same day result.

I HATE this Dr's office!!! They make me feel so paranoid and awful.....like I am doig something wrong!! I was so happy for about an hour after I embraced the fact that I am going to switch, but now I still have to deal with these old people for the next few weeks.

Easy to say, I know, but go with your instincts and what your body tells you. And leave that practice ASAP! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am so sorry you have to deal with this!! Everyone's numbers are always different. Just try to stay positive, and relax until you get your results Friday. Then, make your appt and get far away from your current Dr's office. They are not very comforting!! Best of luck to you!!! You will be in my thoughts!Chat Icon

Their lab produces different results from the rest of the world? Please try not to worry. They do not sound very compassionate or competent. I know you are supposed to go to your doctors for support and advice, but at this point I would take anything they say withy a grain of salt.Chat Icon

Sorry that you are having a horrible experience with them. Definitely go with who you are comfortable with. I had my first child in NYC and now that I'm living on LI I still go to my obgyn in the city and will be delivering in NYC as well. That's how comfortable I am with the practice and the docs. It makes a huge difference. Good luck!Chat Icon

Re: I just want to cry....

So sorry you are going through this!!! At 4 weeks my beta was 310 and the dr. wanted me to repeat it. I went 3 days later it is was over 800 and everything was fine. I am 14 1/2 weeks now!
All the best and it sounds like you are making the right decision by switching offices. I love my dr. and the girls in the office--lets face it we communicate with the office staff a lot and if they aren't nice it can ruin your experience. Chat Icon
