So, has anyone missed me while I'm over here going crazy????
I haven't been on much - I've traded sleepless nights for sleepless days. While now he's finally sleeping pretty good at night - for the last month he is all over the court with naps when we had SUCH a great schedule going. It's truly driving me crazy. He WILL nap and usually it's a good 2-3 hr nap but it doesn't work for him at all. One long nap makes him bonkers. I think it may make him over tired but he just won't take 2. He fights me NO END. And while he used to be fun and content during the day, because of this (I believe) he's out of control now. He whines and yells - not tantrum like, but just spoiled-like. It's literally driving me crazy. Any advice? He just turned one.

I haven't figured Bella out yet either, so I wanted to give you some It's so hard because you just want to reason with them that this is what will help and naps will make them FEEL better.
Bella goes 8-9 hours a DAY at daycare without a nap...it's purenosey nellie syndrome...they are so curous at this age. I figure, DH and I bore her at this point, which is why we can get her to nap at home. They are always throwing those damn curveballs at you...

All I can say is to try as hard as you can to get him into a routine (not like I can do that for Alex myself! HA!). Ever since Alex switched to a new room with a new teacher, she has been taking a nap EVERY DAY from 12:30-2:30pm. EVERYDAY! And we're talking about ALEX here... the most fussy, hard to nap child on the planet! I asked the teacher how she does it and she told me that she keeps the babies VERY occupied the whole morning. They have structured activities - reading time, arts and crafts time, playtime outside, music class, and then at noon she brings them back to class (we're talking about 5 girls who range in age from 12months-15months), gives all of them lunch and then pulls out their "cots", puts on soft music, turns down the lights and pulls out their blankets... at this point she told me the all run towards their cots when she pulls them out. She shushes them, rubs their backs and says it's nappy time... and my lord, it works! I think the reason it DOES work is because there's structure and routine to the day so they all know what to expect. I'd try for a week to do a scheduled routine for the day... it may take a few days of fighting but eventually he'll get it

around this age is when they go to the one nap... Jacob started doing this about a month ago and has been in a pretty good routine since.. He gets up at 8:15-8:30 and naps frpm 1-3:30 everyday ( for the mostpart), dinner at 5:30-6, down at 8:30-9.
I think your son might be transitioning and is getting used to his new schedule...
I always get Jacob out of the house in the morning usually by 10, -go to one of classes, then lunch and then he is exhausted for his nap.
Alot of my friends are going through what you are going through so you are definately not alone.. Unfotunately there is nothing really you can do.. but wait it out...
I will tell you though, i miss that morning nap he used to take

Re: So, has anyone missed me while I'm over here going crazy????
Thanks girls - it's nice to know I'm not the only one pulling my hair out. I LOVED having his schedule - we had it down to a T. And now this. Actually, even though he woke up later today, he went down now at the same time he did yesterday - w/o a fight. So, I'm going to try and do this 9:15 nap for the next few days and see how it goes. The problem is, although he may be trasitioning to the one nap a day - it's not what's working for HIM! He needs 2.
What do you think if I wake him after say, an hr and 1/2 instead of letting him nap for 2-3? Then maybe he'll take another later one? I've NEVER woken him from a nap though.

I know that any break in our routine will throw Emily off completely.
Every saturday we struggle to get her to nap -- because she's not at the babysitters for the first time in 5 days and both Mommy & Daddy are home. Then on Sundays she realizes that it's okay to nap and she has no problem.
EVERY saturday is like this and it drives me crazy! Even right now I put her down for her nap (I"m home from work today with her because she's sick) and she's just laying there talking to her baby -- fighting it hard -- probably because she knows I'm out here and she could be playing with me.
