to me, that makes absolutely no sense. how could your one son be positive and the other has obviously been around him, but he's allowed in school with no mask? this is why no one wants to follow rules anymore- becuase they don't make sense! I hope your son feels better soon and the rest of you are spared. Does your positive son have any symptoms?
I agree 100% None of the rules make sense. Why is it OK for a baseball player to be unvaccinated, but a regular worker can't? And, why is proof of vaccination relevant anyway? The vaccine protects the vaccinated person. But, it has NO BEARING on the ability to spread the virus to others. So, who cares if someone is vaccinated? It's just asinine!

My sons middle school just started this email notification that your child MAY have been exposed (complete with my child’s first and last name within the email)…. But you don’t have to do anything, but you COULD test on so and so date and send the results to the nurse or not. Your child can still attend school. I got 3 of those emails today. Assuming it’s the same child in 3 of my child’s classes. Enough.
LOL that's hysterical. I think they need to find a better use of their time at the school.
We get the same types of emails for elementary. I don’t think the Ms is doing them as I haven’t gotten any yet but he’s with he same kids most of the day.
So basically - these rules also apply if someone in your household tests positive for Covid. My younger son (who received email about a positive case last week) tested positive today... I asked what to do with his brother who was already at school. He's allowed to stay and continue to attend school in person if he's asymptomatic but he should mask for 10 days (but doesn't have to).

Yeah - it doesn't make any sense. There are no more quarantines and as long as DS 1 is asymptomatic, he can attend school... Neither of my kids are vaccinated.
DS 2 is tired and had a headache this am. No fever. When we were driving back from the doctor he said that he has felt worse before and Covid isn't that bad. He's home until Monday and then he can return to school but HAS to mask for 5 days. He had a positive test in his class last Weds and my friend was telling me 4-5 kids were absent yesterday (and then he told me that as well).

Not to mention I know a ton of people who got the vaccine almost a year ago and never got boosted. My SIL has 0 antibodies (she was tested at her doctor appt) now but her old vaccine card is still working! She can go work in the city. But someone with high antibodies from a recent infection- but no little piece of paper saying- LOOK I WAS A GOOD CITIZEN LAST YEAR! - can't So silly.

But last year at this time if someone in your house was positive the whole damn house was locked down for 2 weeks. DOH calling up asking you to put your 6 year old on the phone to make sure they were home with you (and not out gallivanting alone at 6 years old ) Funny how the rules just change as people get sick of them. #science

Yup!
And since he's really not that sick, at the height of allergy season, I wonder how many other kids are walking around schools with Covid right now that nobody realizes.
I understand in the very beginning, we needed to be cautious but now... We need to move on.
ETA - And honestly, DS is right, there have been times that he's been a lot sicker than this. There should be forced house lockdowns for stomach bugs lol.

The vast majority of children are not that sick from Covid. My daughter probably had it a few times already. I never tested her but she' had lots of head colds since March 2020- could have been Covid. Who knows? The scare tactics around children and Covid are over the top.

Yup... I am sure my kids had it at some point too. I only took him as he was complaining about his head and that is a sign of strep for him. We've had so many negative tests where he's seemed worse, I really was surprised.
